After working as a Make-up and Hair artist in the television and film industry for ten years, Mari travelled to Austrailia where she learnt to scuba dive and discovered a passion for the ocean.
After swimming with dolphins at Bunbury, south of Perth and also Monkey Mia she decided to train in massage and eventually follow the path of a therapist.
She has been a Shiatsu practitioner for nearly 20 years and a Craniosacral Therapist (CST) and Watsu practitioner (water Shiatsu) for over 15 years. She qualified as an Acupuncturist in 2009, studying the Classical Chinese system of Acupuncture with Bodyharmonics. Her interest in people and the relationship to their lives, emotions and connection to the universe led Mari to work with Shamanic teachers to develop a deeper understanding of psyche and where we come from and what influences us.
Mari studied in Ocean Harmony in Spain and also trained with the Austrailian founders of Shell Essences and uses them in her practice/ Fortunately she loves travelling and her training and teaching has taken her to America, Austraila, Hawaii, Bahamas, Spain and remote places in Scotland and Wales.
In 2006 she went to Mauritius to train therapists in Watsu and in 2007 was invited to work at the “Ananda in the Himalayas” in India as a visiting Master Therapist.
She has recently returned from a second trip to Mauritius to train more therapists in Watsu and work as a visiting Master Therapist. In the last few years Mari has been working increasingly with yoga and in 2004 began teaching Perinatal yoga and Mum Baby yoga after completing trainings with Birthlight and the British Wheel of Yoga. Her personal yoga practice has started with Iyengar yoga in Austrailia in 1990 and she has worked with several teachers in Ashtanga, Viniyoga and Shadow Yoga.
Her teaching of Hatha yoga includes these styles and although influenced by her training of the Iyengar yoga system, Mari now incorporates a Scaravelli inspired approach to her teaching after studying intensively this year with Marc Woolford.
Her training in Tai Chi Chi Kung startted in the 90s while training in Shiatsu and Mari offers classes in The Eights Strands of the Brocade and the 18 Tai Chi Chi Kung excersises (Shibashi) as taught by Chris Jarmey and Ronnie Robinson.
You are welcome to join in the weekly classes.
